Our organic farm on the Solway coast is very much a family-run business

We're Bruce and Kara McMyn. Our organic farm near New Abbey in Dumfries and Galloway is situated in one of the most beautiful locations to be found anywhere in Britain and is home to our brood of Lohmann hens, herd of suckler cows, flock of sheep and even two alpacas.

Our farm is run very much as a family business and our daughters Iona, Gayle and Ellen, also enjoy helping out, especially gathering the eggs.

We're very proud of the high standards to which we adhere.

Mrs McMyn's hens roam freely in a five-acre paddock during the day and our sheds, which are powered by wind and solar energy, accommodate a maximum of six birds per square metre at night.

The result can definitely be noticed in the taste and this has led to the rapid growth of our organic free-range egg business. We now supply customers across Scotland and the North of England.

The brand name came about when we sent eggs to the local school with our daughters and they became known as ‘Mrs McMyn's Eggs' by the school-children.

We're very confident in our product and enjoy selling at farmers' markets and local shops and restaurants.

We've had great encouragement locally and we find that, once people try Mrs McMyn's eggs, they keep coming back.
